We are looking for an Immersive Volunteer to join an energetic & innovative team at Headley Heath. The site is home to some rare habitats & an experienced, enthusiastic team of volunteers & rangers. This opportunity is available from Jun 2024 - Jun 2025 |
What's involved? |
Headley Heath will provide a range of activities and opportunities. As part of the Trusts’ Land, Outdoors and Nature vision, you will have the chance to participate in projects to inspire our visitors, protect our special landscape and leave your mark on one of the Surrey Hills busiest sites. • Supporting estate management involving countryside maintenance tasks, such as grass cutting, litter picking and maintenance of estate furniture such as gates, stiles, and fences. • Supporting habitat management of Headley’s heathland and chalk grassland. This will involve scrub cutting, coppicing, dead hedging, and monitoring cattle grazing. • Motivating volunteer groups and helping to ensure compliance with National Trust health and safety policies and guidelines. • Interacting with the public to be able to answer queries and provide information about the property ensuring high standards of customer care as a representative of the National Trust. • On occasions there may be opportunity to take on other duties/projects that may be available or linked with your personal interest/development. • Undertaking biological surveys to monitor our flora and fauna • You can volunteer for up to 30 hours a week over no more than 12 months. Accommodation may be available and can be discussed at interview. |

• An individual with great energy levels and a willingness to learn and develop their confidence in a busy countryside team. • Enthusiastic to get involved and contribute toward mew projects and initiatives. • Interested in gaining experience in Countryside Management or Nature Conservation. • Interested in understanding how we care for our places at the National Trust over time. • Interested in volunteering for up to 12 months • Over 18, as once trained, you may be driving NT vehicles, so an existing driving licence or an expectation of working towards one would be advantageous. |
