We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Habitat Creation Coordinator t to join our Field Programmes/ Conservation Education and Engagement team working specifically on the Nature Recovery Corridor Project. This project is funded by the Government's Green Recovery Challenge Fund (GRCF). The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm's-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England, the Environment Agency and Forestry Commission. The role:

• To ensure delivery of the habitat creation, enhancement and management on the Zoo Estate.
• To work with the relevant teams to develop a habitat work plans, and manage delivery of the plan.
• To coordinate multiple internal and external contractors to ensure that habitat management activities are clearly understood and communicated, that logistics are managed (site access, work plans to consider seasonal limitations for certain work packages, equipment ordered and maintained etc) and activity is carried out appropriately (wildlife licensing and legal implications considered and/or obtained, risk assessments completed and disseminated, best practices followed etc)
• To develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation plan, and ensure this is disseminated appropriately and inputs into informal and formal reporting.
• To develop opportunities and assist in coordinating the involvement of community groups in habitat creation, enhancement and management activities, and associated formal training opportunities.
• To collaborate with, and support, multiple partners to deliver none Zoo estate habitat creation and enhancement also being delivered through the Nature Recovery Corridor project, contributing to stakeholder meetings as required and working with partners to develop collaborative activities and ensure habitat activities are complimentary.

The successful candidate will have:

• Subject knowledge: The post holder requires a strong knowledge of conservation and the key issues threatening the natural world today, particularly with a focus on UK wildlife. This is likely to be demonstrated by a relevant degree and/or experience of working within a conservation organisation, ecological consultancy, or similar environment, ideally in a UK setting.
• Practical experience and knowledge of habitat management to enhance biodiversity is essential.
• Excellent time management, administration and planning skills. Ability to coordinate multiple activities, meeting deadlines and ensuring appropriate quality control
• Good diplomacy and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively under own initiative and as part of a team
• Some experience of working collaboratively with a wide range of partners, particularly in the conservation sector
• IT Skills: Skilled in the use of all key Microsoft packages, report writing skills
• Experience of managing external consultants/contractors and leading/managing volunteer groups would be desirable.
• Full driving license

The hours of work are 35 hours per week, worked predominantly between 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. Weekend and evening work may be required to meet the needs of the project for which time off in lieu will be given.
