The RSPB Business Conservation Advice Team works in partnerships with businesses to create nature outcomes and to provide a better environment in which to live.
We are seeking a senior business conservation adviser to manage and deliver a number of national partnerships and lead and develop our offering for business training. 

What’s the role about:

This role leads our conservation advice work with businesses in the housing and renewable energy development space. 

This role will deliver:

(70%) Partner oversight - Managing and delivering our business partnerships, creating more synergistic conservation opportunities and line managing staff who deliver the partnership. 
(20%) Lead and develop our business training offering, helping upskill the business community to better manage their biodiversity risks and deliver enhancement opportunities.
(10%) Lead on maintaining and assuring the high standards of our advice across the wider team through quality assurance and supporting internal training and development.  

We are therefore seeking an ecologically skilled, self-motivated, dynamic individual to lead these partnerships and work programmes. Duties include:

Reporting to the Head of Business Conservation Advice, you will be: 

Manage and Deliver a number of business conservation partnerships, involving:

•    Manage the RSPB biodiversity advisers involved in the partnerships you oversee, enthusing and empowering them to deliver more for nature.
•    Identifying priority species conservation opportunities.
•    Be responsible for ensuring the ongoing success of the partnership through quality assurance and risk management. 
•    Ensure effective engagement with senior stakeholders to maintain a high level of commitment from both organisations. 
•    Seek development and growth opportunities to grow the impact of the partnership furthering the conservation delivery objectives. 
•    Be responsible for growing, collating and reporting the impact of the partnership to internal and external stakeholders
•    Ensure effective promotion and communication of the outputs of the partnership to stakeholders, both through formal reports and media publications. 
•    Be responsible for the managing and tracking the budget associated with the partnership.
•    Where delivering the partnerships directly, you will be reviewing planning documents – assist with the preparation of planting plans, biodiversity management plans. 
•    Provide site appraisals – to identify biodiversity risks and opportunities. 
•    Advising on Biodiversity Net Gain.

What we need from you

Essential:

•    Degree level qualification in a relevant subject or ability to show equivalent work experience.
•    Previous experience of successful partnership working, ideally between conservation and business organisations. 
•    Ability and confidence to work closely with a wide range of senior level stakeholders, developing positive relationships
•    A proven track record of providing ecological management advice for UK species and habitats
•    Knowledge of BNG
•    Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentational) – including an ability to speak confidently and in public to a variety of audiences.
•    Ability to rapidly analyse significant quantities of information, prioritise and balance a diverse workload often to tight deadlines.
•    Competent user of core MS Office programs.
•    Proven ability to demonstrate successful time-management and organisational skills.
•    Able to prioritise effectively. 
•    Project management and implementation.
•    Technical expertise within field of responsibility, including where appropriate, the ability to assess risk. 
•    Successful project management demonstrated by delivery of stated objectives, within budget and on time.
•    Proven, effective, staff management experience.
•    A full driving licence. 

Desirable

•    Higher degree in related subject. 
•    Experience of training delivery
•    Budget management. 
•    Project development. 
•    Confident and capable of being a public face for RSPB to specialist audiences, as well as general audiences via the media.
