An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen within the Council’s Highway Asset Management Group for the position of Stover Country Park Manager.
If you have experience in managing Country Park assets for biodiversity, heritage, and visitor enjoyment and you are a good communicator with a proven track record in solving problems and dealing with people, this may be the ideal opportunity for you. You will make full use of your skills as you oversee and implement the management and maintenance of Stover Country Park and SSSI Local Nature Reserve, a listed historic park and garden; Denbury Hillfort and associated countryside sites and public access routes including the Templer Way and Heritage Trail, in accordance with set management plans / agreements and statutory obligations.
This is a post which requires the ability to develop, manage and deliver successful annual targets, budgets, staff and resource management. The post also requires developing and maintaining strategic partnerships and networks within the public, private and voluntary sectors. You will work closely with the Restoring Stover Park Project team – funded by the National Lottery Heritage fund (NLHF) to develop and influence the future of the park.
You’ll have a degree qualification and experience in team management and funding applications. You will have a confident, diplomatic, and persuasive personality to negotiate with, present to and influence a range of different people, and align with policies relating to Health & Wellbeing, Carbon planning and Covid recovery plans. This role demands good communication skills, self-motivation, and flexibility.
You will be joining an experienced and busy team of Country Park Rangers and Public Rights of Way officers. The successful candidate will be based at Stover Country Park, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ12 6QG but will also need to visit locations throughout the County.
