Campsite Warden (Jerusalem Farm)
Job description
Post Ref: CC476
Please note:
Priority will be given to at risk applicants from local authority employers.
Are you passionate about wildlife?
Do you enjoy being outdoors?
Calderdale Council are looking to fill the position of Campsite Warden at Jerusalem Farm Local Nature Reserve.
You would be responsible for ensuring the Campsite and Nature Reserve are run
effectively, are clean, well maintained, and secure. The site also includes a vast woodland and stream which the post holder will help maintain, so a real passion for countryside management is a must. There may also be opportunities to work on other assets managed by the Countryside and Woodlands Team.
The post holder will be a point of contact for site users and will be required to act on their own initiative when making decisions. Liaising with the contractors who provide routine maintenance to the onsite buildings will also be required. This diverse post is ideal for developing the skills for a future in management of Local Nature Reserves.
• The post holder will work on their own for most of the time and will be required to live on site whilst covering evenings and weekends.
• Most of the time the post holder will be working outdoors and is therefore likely to encounter inclement weather.
• The management of the site can place physical demands on the post holder e.g., rubbish clearance and grounds maintenance.
• The campsite can be very busy at weekends and the warden is responsible for ensuring that people remain safe on site and do not disturb the local community.
• A previous knowledge of machinery such as petrol-powered strimmer/ride on mowers/ATV vehicle (Quad) is desirable but not necessary.
For further information about the role please contact Moy Cash, Countryside and Woodlands Manager moy.cash@calderdale.gov.uk 07769648820 or Julie Swift, Environmental Education Officer julie.swift@calderdale.gov.uk 07874894606
Closing Date: 7th February.
Interview Date: 17th February.
We may utilise digital interview methods.
