Project Assistant – Kickstart Scheme

In response to increasing youth unemployment, the Government has committed £2 billion to the Kickstart Scheme, designed to create thousands of paid 6-month work placements, and Groundwork nationally is thrilled to be part of the scheme.

The Kickstart Scheme brings 16 – 24 year olds on Universal Credit together with a job placement in a career of their choice.

Job Title: Project Assistant
Location: Hatfield, as well as remote working. Some travel across Groundwork East’s area of operation may be required
Salary: National Living Wage
Hours: 25 hours per week
Contract Type: 6 months

Project officers are at the heart of the Groundwork approach to change places and change lives.  This role provides an opportunity to work within the team to help deliver a wide range of community and education projects focussed in one town and will support the development of a range of delivery and project management skills.  We are looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable and creative person to help us to deliver and promote the role of rivers and water in our lives, their value and everyone’s role in looking after and improving them.

The Project Assistant will work within a team of community officers to organise and deliver a programme of activity including public events, walks and talks, family learning and outdoor play,  community engagement and practical green space improvements.  The role will support community consultations, working with volunteers undertaking practical tasks including vulnerable adults.

Excellent communication skills are key along with being well organised and with an interest in community and environmental issues.  The role is part of a small dedicated team working within a larger Charity and thus the ability to work effectively in this environment is required.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check

You do not need professional experience to carry out this role, but we would like to hear about experience you have gained perhaps through education or volunteering.
