Do you want to work closely with the farming community in south Devon to ensure that cirl bunting and other farmland wildlife thrive? We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic conservation adviser to help deliver habitat improvements across the current cirl bunting UK range. 

This role will work closely with the Conservation Officer to deliver the RSPB Cirl Country Landscape Plan objectives. The aim is to ensure the recovering cirl bunting population continues to thrive by supporting the farming community through this period of transition in farm support. Along side cirl bunting habitat improvements, opportunities for other struggling farmland wildlife for example, arable plants and birds such as yellowhammer and skylark, will be developed.  Species monitoring and working with volunteers will support habitat delivery and will be a key objective for this role. 


Essential skills

Excellent knowledge of the ecology, species and habitats in Southern Devon

A good understanding of current agri-environment schemes

Proven experience of working with farmers and landmanagers

Experience of people engagement initiatives

Excellent communication skills

Competent user of core MS operations


Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

Specialist knowledge of farmland species and habitats within Southern England



This is a 2 year Fixed-Term contract, Full-Time role for  37.5 hours per week. 

The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.

Whilst there may be options to work flexibly and remotely, you would need to be Devon based ideally.
