An exciting opportunity is available to provide essential ecological input within the Planning Service at the Isle of Wight Council.

Protecting and enhancing the habitats and species within our environment is fundamental to the attractiveness of the island and the retention of our UNESCO Biosphere status.

The role will focus on providing necessary ecological advice and guidance in the planning process, both internally and externally, to help ensure that development coming forward aligns with relevant environmental legislation and regulation.

With the passing of the Environment Act 2021, exciting new areas of work including mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) for new development will also provide the right person with an ability to be involved at the forefront of these topics and help shape how the island moves forward in implementing the act.

For further information or an informal discussion, please contact James Brewer, Planning Policy Manager james.brewer@iow.gov.uk
