The borough of Basildon is alive with opportunity and has the ingredients to be one of the most successful and desirable places in the South East. As the largest economy in the Thames Estuary outside London, we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved but we are never complacent. We are driving inclusive, sustainable growth to provide opportunity and prosperity for local people and businesses, access to quality homes, vibrant town centres and an enhanced local environment.
As part of the council’s ongoing commitment to protecting and enhancing open spaces and supporting the green and growing within the borough, the Parks and Countryside service is looking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced Biodiversity Officer.
Working within the Parks and Countryside Operations team, your role will help to ensure compliance with the council’s statutory responsibilities and bring consistency to the management of biodiversity across the borough, maximising opportunities for improvements to the natural environment which will, in turn, help to grow the rural economy.
Basildon Borough Council is proud of its open spaces and, with the importance of biodiversity being firmly at the forefront in recent years, the council has already taken steps to make changes and introduce new initiatives to positively contribute to improving biodiversity within the borough. Your role will be key to supporting and championing the cause by bringing the expertise and skills required for effective land management practices and partnership working to produce the desired outcomes.
Preferably a graduate, although other candidates who meet the requirements of the person specification are also encouraged to apply, you will work closely with the Parks and Countryside Operations Management Team to ensure that the borough offers a diverse, functioning and attractive environment, providing a healthy ecosystem which supports the rural economy and the associated health and wellbeing benefits that this brings to residents and visitors.
You will be issued with a Microsoft Surface device and supporting equipment to enable you to work flexibly whether at home or in the office.
If you would like to be part of Basildon’s success, we look forward to receiving your application.
