Project Officer (Greater Manchester)

Our Manchester Peoplescape Project aims to build a movement across Greater Manchester to restore and protect Nature, and we have an exciting opportunity for someone be a part of this. To create this movement, we are looking for a volunteer project officer to help us connect groups, individuals, and organisations to share knowledge, skills and resources and join the fightback for nature.

Working closely with the Manchester Community Project Officer, you will be the lead contact for groups within a small geographical area. The tasks include;

  • Being the point of contact for your own caseload of community groups and develop strong and fruitful partnerships with them.
  • Delivering activities and events in the community for a range of audiences.
  • Developing and co-ordinating bespoke projects with local community groups which are tailored to their individual needs and interests.
  • Using empowering, co-productive and inclusive approaches to create exciting projects that allow groups to enjoy, protect and enhance the nature and greenspace around them.
  • Providing holistic project support including planning, fundraising, risk assessment monitoring and evaluation with the support and supervision of the Manchester Community Project Officer.

We’re looking for someone with the following skills, qualities, and experience;

  • Able to manage own time and workload effectively
  • A confident and outgoing manner, with the ability to enthuse people about the natural world around them.
  • A passion for nature and wildlife and a desire to fight for its protection and conservation
  • An understanding of the benefits of access to greenspace to communities and the importance of people’s right to access and enjoy it equally.
  • Ideally have experience in at least one of the following: administration, communications, community organising, events, project co-ordination or conservation.

This role is based mainly at home, but with chance to get out and visit community groups or attend events in green spaces. We are looking for a minimum commitment of approximately 1 – 2 days a week, but this can be done flexibly around your other commitments.

Travel and out of pocket expenses are available. Training and development opportunities will be available and support from the Manchester Community Project Officer is ongoing.
