The Saving the Saffron Brook – River Restoration Scheme is a new environmental enhancement partnership project between Leicester City Council and the Trent Rivers Trust. Supported by the Green Recovery Challenge Fund, it will help to restore the heavily modified river ecosystems along the brook, reconnect them to the floodplain through re-naturalisation enhancements, and bring local communities closer to nature.
Saving the Saffron Brook aims to create a functioning Nature Recovery Network within the heart of one of the most hard-hit urban populations from Covid19, create meaningful wide-ranging education and volunteering opportunities, greatly improving the lives of disadvantaged local communities by actively connecting them with nature.
