Countryside Access and Maintenance Officer - Highway Services
Job description
22.2 Hours per week
Bridgend County Borough is an area of natural beauty and diversity right at the heart of Southern Wales. It forms part of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast and Countryside and has a network of over 600 Km of public rights of way and 50 Km of recreational traffic free cycle routes.
We are seeking a suitably experienced person to join our Rights of Way

The role is based within Highway Services and provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to help manage that network.
As a member of the Rights of Way team your main duties will be the maintenance and protection of the local rights of way network, part of which will require you to work in partnership with stakeholder groups to foster good relations to achieve understanding, co-operation and reduce conflict. This will involve the implementation of Highways and Rights of Way legislation.
The role will require at least 4 years experience of working within a rights of way environment and an ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of public rights of way legislation. You should also have proven experience of enforcement and organising all types of improvement and maintenance works.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be essential, enabling you to deal with people with tact and diplomacy and build partnerships to meet the aims of the team. You must have good map reading skills and be IT literate, with good knowledge of GIS.
