About Us

The Country Parks Service has a portfolio of 5 Country Parks and 3 Greenways across Warwickshire serving in excess of 900,000 visitors a year.

Burton Dassett Hills Country Park has a series of rugged hilltops affording spectacular views in all directions and Fox Covert, small woodland with a surfaced footpath.  Opened as a country park in 1971, the 100 acres contain a wealth of historical interest such as the prominent beacon, quarry remains and the nearby 12th Century All Saints Church. 

Hartshill Hayes Country Park covers 137 acres of woodland and open hilltop with magnificent views across the Anker Valley.  It’s a steep hilly woodland park with tea kiosk, adventure playground and toilet facilities and is open every day of the year, except Christmas Day.

Kingsbury Water Park is renowned for its birdlife and is popular with birdwatchers. It lies on the River Tame and bordered on the western edge by the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal.   The Park comprises of meadow, woodland and lakes attracting over 350,00 visitors each year.

Pooley Country Park is a 62.5 hectare site, one third of which is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, contains several pools caused by mining subsidence and has woodland habitats.  Situated on the Coventry canal, the Park and is open every day of the year, except Christmas Day. 

Ryton Pools Country Park is a 100 acre country park and is great to explore.  There are many different habitats that are home to a wide range of birds and other wildlife. The excellent surfaced paths enable easy walking around the site, and provide access to adjoining ancient woodland Ryton Wood, the two new Play Areas and Pirate Trial.

We’re looking for an Assistant Rangers to join us at Kingsbury Water Park.

The Role

Assistant Countryside Rangers x 4 full time x1 part-time (or job share)

Fixed Term – Summer Seasonals (April – Sept)

Hours -  Full time (37hrs) - Part time (15hrs Sat & Sun) per week

Salary:  £16,755 per annum (pro-rata)

As our Assistant Ranger you’ll be working weekends and Bank Holidays in all weathers.  You’ll be helping to promote and assist visitors’ enjoyment of the countryside and contribute to events, volunteer management and provide information and advice on activities.  You will also be running holiday events and assisting with school groups.  Ensuring the park and facilities are clean and tidy; as well as take payment for goods and assisting with parking are all part of your duties.  In addition, you may be required to work at other sites as required as well as work additional hours as the need arises.

Key Requirements

To be successful in this role you’ll need knowledge of Conservation, recreation and countryside issues as well as previous experience of working or volunteering in a leisure or countryside environment where you will have developed practical countryside skills.  It’s essential that you want to work weekends and Bank Holidays and equally important you have the ability to work within a team as well as on your own initiative.  As you’ll be managing a variety of relationships, strong customer care and communication skills are necessary. An interest in wildlife and the outdoors is desirable.
