Further Information
We are looking for an organised and experienced community engagement professional, with a passion for our wild places and for making them welcoming and accessible to everyone, to lead a new project.

North Pennines - A Landscape for Everyone (ALFE) is a one-year NLHF funded project to help the AONB Partnership connect with, and learn from, a number of under-represented audiences. Our visitors and volunteers tend to be white, older and have access to their own transport. We seek to engage with younger people, those from deprived communities, and those from BAME backgrounds.

The Community Engagement Officer will work with at least 8 groups selected to represent a cross section of these audiences and to work with them to develop and train ‘champions’, and to co-design experiences and activities in the North Pennines, with the aim of increasing skills and confidence amongst these groups to visit independently in the future.

Learning is a key part of the project, and so evaluation of every activity will be important, and you will work alongside a professional evaluator to learn and develop the project as you go. You will be supported by the AONB staff team to provide activities which your groups can take part in, in particular the Community Engagement Officers working on our Fellfoot Forward, Earthworks and Tees Swale projects. Long-term objectives include ensuring that future project and product design takes into account the resources needed to reach these missing audiences and building relationships that will last.

Applicants should hold a Degree (Level 6) or equivalent or significant relevant experience together with considerable experience of community engagement and/or community development and successful working on multi-agency projects.

This post would be ideal for a secondment from a suitable partner organisation.

Interviews are scheduled to be held via electronic means on Thursday 6 May 2021.

We are also running an on-line Q&A session for anyone who would like to meet the AONB staff team who will be working with the successful candidate, before deciding whether or not to make an application. This will be held at 7pm on Monday 19th April on Zoom. If you would like to be sent the link, please email carly@northpenninesaonb.org.uk

For more information about the post and the project please contact Andy Lees via email at andy@northpenninesaonb.org.uk to chat via email or to arrange a call.
