A Rights of Way Searches Officer is required at County Hall, West Bridgford to join a team of dedicated Countryside Access Officers, who are responsible for the management and recording of the County’s public rights of way network. You will process public rights of way, commons and town and village green searches. You will also provide technical support to the Authority’s Countryside Access Team.

Key duties include:

  • carrying out land searches on behalf of district councils, private search companies, solicitors and members of the public
  • clarification of issues arising from land searches
  • monitoring and managing records and income
  • produce reports and statistics; digitise mapping records
  • undertake surveys
  • provide general technical support to the Authority’s Countryside Access Team.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person. You must have a good working knowledge and understanding of rights of way and highway functions and good communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of working with CAMS or a similar database and GIS is essential. The ability to effectively organise your time and workload is also required.

A full UK driving licence is essential. Lone working and site visits are part of the role, sometimes involving difficult or uneven terrain. You should be willing to work outside normal office hours if required. We have a flexible working hour’s scheme.
