The Adults & Communities Directorate, consists of four strands, Adult Social Care, Community Development, Neighbourhoods and Public Health. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an appropriately qualified, enthusiastic, practical and well organised individual to join our Countryside Ranger team. Within this role you will work to promote conservation, recreation and environmental education within Country Parks/Visitor Centres, woodlands, local nature reserves and the wider countryside. You will also support the Countryside Access Ranger on PROW/access works when required.

You will lead on projects to enhance biodiversity, access and visual amenity of greenspace sites and provide support to Countryside Volunteers and community groups to achieve these aims. We are looking for somebody with practical experience in carrying out and leading a variety of conservation tasks and activities.

The ability to confidently lead groups of volunteers, young people and adults is important. Our Countryside Rangers work with a variety of groups, with a range of needs. Experience of health & safety and risk assessments in relation to working with volunteers and site maintenance would be useful.

To be a success in this role, you will require excellent communication skills, be customer focussed with a flexible approach to work, presenting yourself positively. You will be an innovative problem solver with the ability to develop strong working relationships internally and with partner organisations. You will be an effective verbal and written communicator, required to provide educational talks and presentations to a range of audiences.
