Volunteering

Volunteering

There are many ways you can help to care for Dartmoor and gain new skills.

As part of our Donate for Dartmoor scheme, you can donate your time by volunteering for a variety of conservation projects, including practical work days and regular events.

We welcome volunteers to join us at our regular events and you may be interested in some of the roles set out below.  Regrettably, we are currently unable to accommodate corporate volunteering or groups.

If you have a question about volunteering on Dartmoor, email volunteering@dartmoor.gov.uk.

UK National Parks want YOU to Look Wild

Dartmoor has joined with the UK’s 15 National Parks to launch #LookWild, a new citizen science project to map and record the different species of plants and animals they see both inside and outside of National Parks. This growing database will help the National Parks in their collective effort to restore nature and ensure thriving ecosystems.

Become a voluntary warden

The voluntary warden scheme is managed by the Ranger Service. Volunteers help the rangers with their duties and liaise with the community. They advise and help visitors to the Park, help promote enjoyment and understanding of Dartmoor’s special qualities and carry out practical projects.

Please note that we are not currently recruiting voluntary wardens as we are reviewing how we engage volunteers to support our Ranger Service. Keep an eye on our website or sign up to our e-newsletter to find out more.

Are you a park stakeholder or partner?

Dartmoor National Park Forum is a mechanism for partners, stakeholders and other interested parties to consider issues of policy relating to Dartmoor National Park and for their views to inform the formal decision-making process. Forum members are local authorities, national organisations and local special interest groups which reflects the range and variety of organisations and interest groups with an interest in the park and surrounding area.
